41 Lunar Returns Remind Me of Africa
I just celebrated my 41st Earthday under the sun and the moon, Give Thanks, and even though I am getting ready for the 10th anniversary of my local arts and social change venue, “Cafe Nuba,” I am missing my favorite cultural event in the whole world – FESPACO Film & TV Festival in Burkina Faso next month b/c of the crappy recession! – So I have been looking for ways to soothe my spirit with sounds of Africa. Peep this Nigerian sistah Asa (prounounced “Ah-Sha”) She’s so fresh, and so clean! This is Afro-Folk y’all, Dig It! (If you are in Los Angeles this week Thurs – she’s performing at my Brother Jeremy Sole’s “Afro FUNKE” set.)
